History
During the 2002-2003 academic year at UMIST, founding members, through
communication with other non Persian students, realised that the level of
knowledge about Persia and its culture is either non or very little. So the
need of establishing a society in which they can organise events with a
Persian touch to it was felt.
After talks with the UMIST Students Union, it was decided to launch and
celebrate the start of Persian Society on March the 27th 2003, eve of Persian
New year.
UMIST and Victoria University of Manchester merged in September 2004 to create
the largest university in UK. we are proud to be part of the Persian society
of UK's largest university.
