Elections
President of UMPS is elected by members, every 8 months. only the very first
president is not elected.
there will be one presidential elections each year on first of May and the president elect will take over during
summer holiday and prepares the society's events for September. any
presidential nominee should be a member of the society for at least 4
months.
At the same time there will be election for the treasury post.
there will be no direct election for Vice presidency , however,
during Presidential campaign each nominee should declare their choice Vice
President.
members are those who join the society by filling out the membership form
which can be obtained from the UMIST Student Association, Please contact the
societies officer. however the best time to join the society is during
fresher week.Only member students from
Manchester University and UMIST can participate in elections.
President is the ultimate responsible for the events relating to the
society. he/she organises events in line with the charter of the society. to
execute a project in practice, final approval from President is essential in
a written manner, which will be recorded in the society's log book.
Vice president will help the president to carry out its duties. his/her
duties will include organising approved projects, on ground level. in case
the president was ill or absent for any reason, Vice President takes over
until the president returns.
Treasurer will help the President to get the budget balanced. any spending
will be supervised by the treasurer. for any project, the treasurer must
approve the budget. after budget was approved the fund for that particular
project will be available to President and Vice President for spending.
Treasurer will NOT take the role of leadership in case both the President
and the Vice President were absent. in this situation the Societies officer at The Umist Students Union will
become temporary President and carries out programs of the society, until
the Vice President or President returns or until the next election.
in case the society did not have a president or vice president at the time
of elections, The Students Association will hold the election according to
the rules of the Society and Students Association. |
