Nowrooz Festival

The time of year has come upon us to celebrate Nowrooz, the biggest event in the Iranian calander, celebrating the start of spring. Hence we are inviting you to celebrate the arrival of this joyous time with us and fellow Iranian friends.

Date: Wednesday 19th March
Time: 7:30 pm til late
Location: Effes Taverna
46 Princess Street
Manchester M1 6HR
Ticket prices: £9 for smembers, £11 for non-members
(no children under 12)

There will be a buffet available with over 30 dishes (including vegatarian options), also sweets and fruits, live music and a disco later. It's an unmissable event, so please book your places early as places may run out.

Yalda Night Festival

Yalda Night Festival is to be held on FRIDAY 21ST DEC, 7:30pm till late, in the magnificent OLIVE RESTUARANT, 86 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6NG.

There would be a variaty of Iranian foods (including starters, main dishes, salad, soft drinks, sweets, watermelon and pomegranate), our very own band performing live pop music, Fal-e-Hafez and some traditional instrumental music, plus more entertainment and of course a DJ and dancing till late.

Ticket Prices are as below:
£14 : Members
£16 : Students (non-members)
£18 : Public (non-members)
£9 : Children
There would be also a 10% discount for group bookings of more than 5 people.

Social Dinner

We are planning to go for a dinner in a persian restaurant (Persia Grill house) this Friday (16th). For those of you who know the place you need to be there by 8:00pm. Those of you who don't know the place can meet us at 7:00pm in front of the BBC in oxford road and we will all go there together. On time showing up is appriciated. For best service, it is recommended that you pre-order your main course from the menu by replying to social@umps.co.uk by Thursday 15th.

Poetry Night

Just a quick reminder that the poetry night is held this week again this Thursday 15th, at 18.30 in Room W3.13, 3rd Floor, Humanities Building. There will be live traditional music by two of our talented musicians Mr. Babak Daneshvar and Mr. Arash Fayyazi. Please note that the doors of the humanities building will be closed by 18:30 and therefore on time arrival is required.

Day trip to Lake District

We are planning to join the International Society on Saturday (24th November) and enjoy the ''Kendal and the Ulverston Dickensian Christmas Festival'' in Lake district. Ticket prices will be £13 per person and due to restricted availability, it is COMPULSORY for those who want to join us on the trip to reply to trip@umps.co.uk by Friday (16th).

Reading Chain Sessions

The first session is to be held on Tuesday 20th November from 6:00pm till 8:00pm in meeting room 2 of the Students' Union Building in Oxford road.

General Meeting & Chillout

The second General meeting of the UMPS is to be held on Friday 2nd November in Harry's bar From 6:00pm till 8:00pm, followed by chillout in Rusholme.

Second Social Gathering

The second social gathering of the UMPS is to be held at GLASS bar in Fallowfield on Friday 19th October From 8:30pm to 1:00am.

General Meeting

The first general meeting of the UMPS is to be held on Wednesday 3rd October in meeting room 3 of the Students' Union (Oxford Road) from 6pm till 8pm.Those members who are interested in the organisation of our events can attend this meeting.
